| Issues with DeltaGraph 5.6.x help on Windows Vista |
Q: When I open DeltaGraph help for the first time on Windows Vista, an error message occurs, telling me that help has failed to open, what should I do?
A: What's happening is that in Windows Vista, Microsoft has eliminated their old help program, WinHlp32.exe. DeltaGraph's help uses WinHlp32.exe and so you need a version of WinHlp32.exe from Microsoft.
When you open help and the error message appears a dialogue will also appear, providing you with some text which tells you that WinHlp32.exe is no longer being attached to Windows Vista. Near the bottom of the text is a link to a WinHlp32.exe file on Microsoft's website. Click on this and it brings you to the Microsoft website, under introduction is a link that will lead you to the WinHlp32.exe for Vista file. On the WinHlp32.exe download page there are the system requirements, overview etc. There are 2 files to download. If you are running Vista64, then download the one ending in x64, if you are running anything else download the file ending in x86.
A dialogue will appear asking whether you want to open the update or save it to disk, under save to disk check the box then hit ok. Find the file and execute it to install WinHlp32.exe to your computer which will allow you to read 32 bit help files under the .hlp extension.
Step one:
Open DeltaGraph help in the help drop down menu, next click on the link shown in the above screenshot.
Step two:
Now click on the link shown in the above screenshot which will bring you to the links for downloading WinHlp for Vista or any other Windows OS.
Step three:
To download WinHlp for Vista64 click on the download button with the label ending in "64", for any other Windows OS click the "86" download button.
Step four:
This will bring up a dialogue reflecting the one in the above screen shot.
Step five:
Select Save to disk in this dialogue and run the updater to install WinHlp on your Windows OS.
